It's sort of sad that my first interaction with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on the PC was as a benchmark. But after answering a bunch of emails and responding to comments, I finally got a chance to sit down and play the game.
Yep, that's right - I took this evening off, no benchmarks, no writing, nothing. Vinney and I played a bit of Splinter Cell with a friend in D.C., only to realize that we are both very bad spies (Vinney is a bit better than me, she's much more patient than I am at this kind of stuff).
NVIDIA sent me a replacement nForce4 SLI Intel Edition board, but I'm waiting for ASUS' board to arrive tomorrow before beginning my testing. I'd rather test on a production board anyways and the ASUS board should have dual core support so it'll be a good test platform. I'll keep you all updated on that as things progress.
It's looking like the nForce4 bit will be my next article; I haven't decided if I'm going to hand Derek the x64 article or not, I'm waiting to hear back from him on his schedule. To those wanting a 2P Opteron vs. Pentium D comparison, that one's not going to happen but I have one I think you'll appreciate even more in a couple of weeks.
The Theater 550 article is almost complete, it got cast aside to make room for the dual core stuff but hopefully I'll be able to finish it up soon. That's all for now, I'm going to enjoy the rest of the night off :)
Take care.

Not to go OT, but does anybody else get a "WinOpen is not defined" javascript error when trying to read the user comments in Anand's blog in FireFox?traire - Thursday, April 7, 2005 - link

Cool. Although you are not doing 2P vs Dual Core, do address a burning question I have in mind...VIA C3 Dual Core, AMD Toledo, Intel Yonah and Smithfield. How do you see each company's move with their processor architectures and how do you think will VIA's Dual Core affect the market balance that is Intel/AMD?

There's one obvious comparison you've left out of the dual core articles so far... dual cpu systems! I'm very interested to know how much of a performance difference there is between a dual core intel cpu and a dual intel cpu system. Theoretically with opteron there should be minimal performance difference where with intel there could be quite a bit due to the differing bus architectures. Are any future articles going to make this comparison?N. Shaikh - Thursday, April 7, 2005 - link
Anand,Love and respect your site. My younger brother since the inception of your site has always been sending me snippets of AT's reviews. I would usually come online, read the reviews and make my buying decision.
Recently I asked myself who is Mr. Anand. I was pleasantly surprised to learn what makes you tick in your blogs and certain third party news sites. Thanks for shedding light on the influence of manufacturers, its something Ive thought about but as you mentioned didnt think was a factor in AT's reviews.
All the best to you and yours.

I bet it feels good to take the night off with your wife and just relax. You have outdone yourself (as always) with the dual-core articles and I think you deserve every bit of rest you can get.Have fun Anand and I hope you are feeling a bit light-hearted after the previous blog post. Feel free to open your heart to us loyal readers. We will always stand up for you. :)
